Casandra López

So frequently
I speak of longing,
a language weighted with
impossibility,

but right now I say:
remember this moment—
how we mouth
hunger,
remember the way we
map ourselves anew.

— Casandra López, from “Continent of Desire,” Brother Bullet (University of Arizona Press, 2019)
